Description
Note that the tropical Royal Oak dials are sometimes found on the reference 14790 but almost never on the 4100st. Gérald Genta’s design remains as sharp and confident as ever, with the kind of balance that still feels modern today. This is a Royal Oak with real historical weight, but also with the sort of honest charm that makes vintage watches so compelling.
Why it stands out:
– Exceptional topical ‘petit tapisserie’ dial.
– Superbly preserved case/bracelet.
– Preferred steel execution.
What you should know:
– Minor superficial scratches.
General information:
As clearly shown in the photographs, taken in direct sunlight and without any retouching, the dial has developed a remarkably even gold-toned tropical colour across what was originally a dark petite tapisserie dial. This ref. 4100ST features the vintage font printing and a Swiss Made signature, adding to its period charm. The bracelet remains strong with only minor signs of stretch, while the case is equally well preserved, with a thick bezel and its original bevels and edges still clearly visible. The date disc remains crisp, and the tritium lume in both the hour markers and the hands has aged in an attractive and consistent manner.
The Cal. 2125 movement runs well and keeps accurate time. The quick-set date functions as it should, with smooth winding and equally smooth time-setting.
Accompanied by rare brown leather 70s AP box (with outer protective box), service AP pouch with warranty card (we have no knowledge on when this service was done).
Wrist circumference: 18 centimeters (additional links can be sourced upon request).
