Description

This near mint 1016 has been incredibly well preserved throughout the past 55 years.

The immaculate matte black dial has a very attractive patinated lume showing no flaws at all. The iconic 3-6-9 Explorer dial can be considered one of the more famous and striking dials ever made by Rolex.
The luminous hour markers show to be the exact same colour as all three lume filled hands.

The steel Oyster case has four sharp lugs.
Very little wear on the case, no dents or deep scratches. The bezel shows two minuscule ‘scratches’ at the 6 hour position that are hardly visible with the naked eye. The crystal shows some minor scratches.
The case back might have been lightly polished somewhere over the years but we’re not entirely sure. If you would like to see more additional pictures feel free to ask anytime.

Reference 1016 and serial number (1.38X.XXX) between the lugs are clearly visible, no marks from an imperfect fitted bracelet.

The Cal.1570 movement is clean and runs smooth with accurate precision.

The watch is accompanied with the original box and fitted on a more modern 78360 bracelet with 501B endlinks.
