Rolex Oyster From 1938 – Early Waterproof

Rare and uncommon Rolex wristwatch in Oyster case from the year 1938. This is one of the earlier Rolex Oyster cases, let alone a ladies example in a scarce steel and gold case. Scroll down to read more about this watch.



Elegant off-white matte texture dial with black Roman hour indications and a ‘rail track’ minute indication.
A small decentralized seconds hand and blued steel ‘Breguet’ hands

The stainless steel round case features a stepped bezel and has solid yellow gold lugs flowing from the centre of the case.
With original ‘Oyster+Patent’ crown in yellow gold.

The ‘modele depose’ signed screw down case back bears the 62.257 serial number dating the watch back to 1938.
The inside of the case back shows two interesting hallmarks accompanied by 5 different country patents.

Movement is clean and runs with fine accuracy.
The steel bracelet has three different closing positions to fit different sized wrists.

Rare piece considering its on of the earlier Oyster watches produced by Rolex.
