Description
As many of you may know, the Cal. 2120/2800 is known to be the first ultra thin automatic perpetual calendar movement.
The ground breaking movement was originally introduced in 1978, and was almost instantly loved and embraced by the world of horology (in times of a quartz crisis). It is commonly thought that the Royal Oak was the savior for Audemars Piguet during the quartz crisis however the crucial role played by the perpetual calendar is often forgotten. This new perpetual calendar calibre provided stability but more importantly growth for the company, evident through the workforce almost doubling under its tenure. In fewer words, this watch is just as important to the brand and the market as it is beautiful.
The watch remains in superb condition with little signs of use throughout.
The dial with old font logo is immaculate without any signs of blemish.
Sapphire crystal without scratches. The 18K yellow gold case is thick and shows distinct grain polish on the side of the case and lugs as it should.
The stepped bezel shows some very light superficial scratches.
Original black leather AP strap and rare golden double folding buckle.
The Cal. 2120/2800 movement has been checked and runs with fine accuracy and amplitude.
