Description

With the exception of the later leather strap, this watch remains entirely in the condition as it once left the Vallée de Joux factory 60 years in the past.

The silver sun burst dial features an applied gold JLC logo and facetted baton hour markers. Date window aperture at the three hour position and a centralised sweep seconds hand. Classic 60s design with large diameter dial in comparison to the relatively thin bezel.

Unpolished 18k yellow gold casing with brushed sides. Some gold patina here and there, indicating that the watch has not been worn much in the past decade(s).

The Globe Geomatic case back emblem is still showing its detailed engraving. Flanked by a personal engraving as this watch was gifted to D Ludik after long and loyal service by the Premier Milling Group.

The stunning automatic chronomètre Cal. K881G movement is finished to high Swiss horlogy standards and keeps accurate timing.

The JLC inhouse 23-jewel caliber K881G movement is adjusted to 5 positions and temperature. These movements received a COSC rating for “especially good results” after 360 hours (15 days) of rigorous testing. Fast-beat – 19,800 vibrations/h, calendar with instantaneous date change at midnight, direct drive seconds with “hack” seconds stopping function for synchronizing the watch to the second. Kif shock protected balance pivot.

According to LeCoultre archives, only 1500 of these yellow gold examples were made from 1962 to the late 60’s.
