Description

Mathey-Tissot, a Swiss watch maker of prestige and complicated timepieces, originally established in 1886 by Edmond Mathey-Tissot at Les Ponts-de-Martel in Neuchâtel Switzerland. Edmond started to specialize in complications resulting in high grade minute repeating and famous split-seconds pocket watches in the end of the 19th century earning a number of awards given out by the Kew Observatory due to his incredibly well made movements.
Mathey-Tissot is not to be confused with the Swiss brand Tissot as there is no relation whatsoever between the two brands.

This Valjoux 726 powered 40mm sports watch remains in incredible condition. Not only its immaculate dial, but the case, rotating bezel and movement remain in an exceptional untouched state.

This watch has clearly been treasured by its previous owner resulting in what we believe to be the best Exotic Mathey-Tissot chronograph specimen existing. Even better so than the one sold by Phillips in November 2016 considering the slightly lighter patina coloured dial and fewer ‘spots’ on the black coated rotating bezel.

The dial features three register sub-dials with a small baton shaped hand in three different colours. The chronograph minute register has red and black minute indicators for the first ten minutes resulting in a playful, eye catching and innovative 1970s design. All tritium plots are present and have developed a warm orange colour.

The strong stainless steel case bears the signature and serial number ( 334.XXX) on its screw down case back. No worth to mention flaws except for some superficial scratches. Original MT signed winding crown.

The Valjoux 726 movement is as clean as it gets. Running strongly with great accuracy. Chronograph function working perfectly.

(Scratches seen in third picture are all superficial on the crystal and only seen as shadow on the dial in certain direct sun light)

All in all, an incredibly rare and sought after chronograph in 100% original condition with a one-of-a-kind dial to die for.

Video’s and pictures in daylight and direct sunlight can be send upon request.
