Desotos Jumbo Valjoux 72 Chronograph – 1970s.

In our opinion, this particular chronogrpah offers superb value for money. It features a jumbo-sized Valjoux 72 chronograph housed in a waterproof stainless steel case, complete with a quirky blue sunburst dial with three sub-dials. The watch remains in fine, completely original condition. Scroll down to read more.

Description

Desotos, a watch brand produced by Georges Gay SA of Les Bioux, Switzerland, was active from the 1960s to the 1980s and is the predecessor to Claude Meylan. The brand dates back to at least 1967 and specialized in sports watches. Desotos claimed to be “the first firm to use assembly line methods in the production of chronographs” during that era.

The luminous hour and minute pencil hands, along with the lollipop chronograph center seconds hand, have developed a warm patina. The dial lume plots are all present and intact.

The Valjoux 72 movement and chronograph function work perfectly, maintaining accurate time.
Case dimension: 37.5 millimeters.
