Description
Why it stands out:
– Cartier retailed.
– Malachite gemstone dial.
What you should know:
– Light surface scratches.
General information:
Preserved in superb, unrestored condition. The malachite dial features both Cartier and Swiss Made signatures, along with faceted Dauphine hands, as commonly seen on Corum timepieces from the 1970s. The dial shows some light surface scratches (see macro shots), yet is free of cracks or hairlines. The watch is fitted with a cabochon winding crown.
The case is signed by Corum and features multiple gold hallmarks. The 18K stamp on the case back was a specific request by Cartier to comply with U.S. gold marking standards, where it was customary to display the gold purity mark on the outside rather than the inside of the case back. A nice detail is the white enamel inlay within the hallmark, designed to match the white Cartier dial signature.
Powered by a Corum in-house hand-wound caliber. Fitted with its original Cartier-signed strap and correct plated AW (armband werke) pin buckle.
