Description
This watch is fitted on a very interesting bracelet. After substantial research and consultation with multiple specialist we are still not entirely sure about the origin of this rare and intriguing bracelet.
Sometimes you come across something special from a renowned brand which does not initially correspond with their style. Rolex has three major bracelets as we know; the President, Jubilee and Oyster. Besides these three, which cover up 99% of all Rolex bracelets, there are some others that are less known such as the Pearlmaster bracelet, woven mesh bracelet and the ‘box-bracelet’. The bracelet fitted on this presented watch has no nickname. We are not completely sure where it was made (possibly South Amerika), by who it was made and why/for who it was made (possibly special order)
.
What is interesting, both the clasp and the inside case back show the same makers hallmark; LAO. (see pictures) This makers hallmark does not bring us any further except for the fact that the watch was directly linked to this particular bracelet.
Its design is mesmerizing, with rectangular links in rows of 4 and 5, and an old style Rolex logo folding clasp. Clearly Rolex and 18K gold hallmarked.
Now to the watch itself. The reference 1007 with its wide flat engine turned bezel and its 34mm case creates a very well balanced wrist presence. This particular example remains in very good original condition with attractive arrow shaped hour markers and a silvered sun-burst dial. Both the lume of the dial and the hands have acquainted a warm colour patina. All lume plots perfectly intact.
The case remains thick and shows little sings of use except for some light scratches. The case bears multiple gold hallmarks. Both the serial and reference numbers between the lugs are perfectly legible.
The cal. 1560 movement with butterfly rottor runs well and keeps accurate timing.
Watch is accompanied by an embroidered Rolex box with protective outer box.
